About AFDN
Founded in 2008, African Families Development Network (AFDN) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit housing and credit counseling agency. We are a member agency of the Minnesota Homeownership Center and are a HUD-approved agency for our housing counseling services. Since 2011, we have been helping consumers with their budget, credit, and housing issues and we are grateful to continue serving consumers in need. We strengthen the financial position and enrich the lives of every-day people through homeownership. We provide Pre-purchase One-on-One Counseling, Pre-purchase Homebuyer Education Workshops, Rental Counseling and Homeless Counseling services to low and moderate income families through housing counseling services, and housing counseling assistance to consumers via phone, Internet, and in-person sessions. Adopt the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling.
Executive Director
The Executive Director of African Families Development Network functions as the Chief Executive Officer of the organization. In this capacity the Director is responsible for implementation of policies set by the Board of Directors as well as annual goals and objectives, and financial, program, and administrative management of the organization. Guidance and direction is provided by the President of the Board, by the Board and by the Executive Committee or the Board.
Governance
AFDN is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors of African Families Development Network is responsible for overall policy, direction of the organization and delegates responsibilities of day-to-day operations to the staff and committees.

Our Mission
The mission of AFDN is to assist African immigrant families with economic, affordable housing for all, social and cultural development, education, health programs and services in order to ensure their self-sufficiency and overall well-being.
